Spell check

Luzbase checks your spelling in visual mode, using your browser’s built-in spell checker. Switch to visual mode when you want to proofread; code mode isn’t spell-checked.

  1. Open a .tex file in the editor.
  2. Click Visual in the bar at the top of the editing area. See Code and visual modes.
  3. Misspelled words get your browser’s usual underline. Right-click a word to see your browser’s suggestions.

Only your prose is checked. Spell check skips:

  • command and environment names, such as \section or itemize,
  • math, inline and displayed,
  • the preamble, comments and verbatim text,
  • labels, citation keys, file paths and URLs, such as the arguments of \label, \ref, \cite, \includegraphics and \url.

The spell checker is your browser’s, so it generally uses the spell-check languages set in your browser. To check another language, add or switch the language in your browser’s settings.

  • Only visual mode is spell-checked. Code mode is not.
  • Words you add to the dictionary go to your browser’s own dictionary. Luzbase has no dictionary of its own.
  • Luzbase does not check grammar.
