What is Luzbase? The online LaTeX editor

Luzbase is an online LaTeX editor. You write LaTeX in your browser, Luzbase compiles it to PDF on its servers, and your co-authors can edit the same document with you in real time. You don’t need to install anything.

  • Projects hold the files of one document, such as a paper, a thesis or a CV. Each project has a main .tex file, plus any chapters, images and bibliographies you add. See Create a project and Files and folders.
  • The editor has a code mode for LaTeX source and a visual mode that shows headings, math, figures and tables formatted as you type. See the editor tour.
  • Compiling turns your project into a PDF with a recent TeX Live distribution, using pdfLaTeX, XeLaTeX or LuaLaTeX. See Compiling.
  • Versions let you look back at earlier states of your work. Your typing is saved automatically, and Save version records a named snapshot you can compare, restore or export. How far back you can go depends on the project owner’s plan. You can also work on separate branches and merge them back. See Save a version and Branches.
  • Collaboration covers real-time editing, three roles (Owner, Editor and Viewer) and project discussions. See Real-time editing.
  • Templates and snippets give you a head start. Templates include general layouts and university thesis and journal formats. Snippets are single formulas you can share by link. See Use a template and Snippets.
  • Reference managers: you can sync a Zotero or Mendeley library into a .bib file. See Zotero and Mendeley.

You can use Luzbase for free. The Pro plan raises limits such as collaborators, storage and version history (on Free, older history is eventually deleted), and adds features such as private snippets and reference manager sync. See Plans and limits and Version history.
