Publish a template
A public template is listed in Explore for everyone on Luzbase. Before it appears there, a Luzbase reviewer checks that it compiles and is safe to share. This page walks you through submitting a template and keeping it up to date.
Who can see a template
Section titled “Who can see a template”| Visibility | Who sees it |
|---|---|
| Private | Only you, plus your team’s Team tab if you belong to a team. Not listed in Explore. |
| Public | Anyone on Luzbase, in Explore, after a review. |
New templates are always private. Publishing is free on every plan.
Before you submit
Section titled “Before you submit”The submission dialog runs these checks on your draft, and you can only submit when they pass:
- Compiles without errors
- Has a preview
- Description is at least 20 characters
- Category and license are set
Set the description, category and license under Details in the template editor. See Edit a template.
Also make sure the template:
- uses only files you have the right to share under the license you chose;
- contains no personal data: names, emails, photos and addresses are placeholders;
- is a reusable starting point, not a finished document.
You confirm these three points when you submit.
Submit for review
Section titled “Submit for review”- Open your template in the template editor and click Submit for review. Or, on the template’s page, open the … menu, choose Change visibility…, click Public, then click Continue to review.
- Check that every item under Checks passes. If one fails, the dialog shows how to fix it, such as opening the compile log or the details.
- Tick the three statements under Confirm.
- Optionally, answer What should the reviewer know?, for example “Based on the journal’s official class, with its sample figures removed.”
- Click Submit for review.
Luzbase shows “Submitted for review.” and the template’s status changes to In review. Reviews usually take 1–3 business days. You get an email and a notification when there is a decision.
While a version is in review, its files are locked. To change something, click Withdraw submission on the template’s page; the template stays private and you can edit again.

- Click Private, then click Make private.
The template is removed from Explore and becomes private again. Projects already created from it keep their files.
